What to see outside of Barcelona?

Here are 6 trip options to make sure that you don’t miss out on any of the best locations within reach of Barcelona.

Montserrat: This unique mountain has peculiar round shapes and is one of the Catalan people’s most revered locations. There is the basilica of the Virgen de Montserrat chapel, known as La Moreneta, the patron of Cataluña. The mountain is also a natural park, where you can go walking, take bike rides, climb, and enjoy spectacular views. It is 50 km from Barcelona.

Figueres and the Dalí Museum: Figueres is a picturesque town where you can visit the historic centre, as well as the Dalí Theatre-Museum and “Dalí jewels”, containing the greatest collection of art representing the artist’s progression from his first art experiment to his surrealist creations, completed by his final works. It is 138 km from Barcelona and 30 km from Girona.

Sitges: This beautiful fishing village is famous for its beaches, carnival, and LGBT-friendly atmosphere. Located 39 km from Barcelona, it is easily reached using local trains in 30 minutes.

La Costa Brava: The Costa Brava (running from Blanes to Portbou) has some of the best beaches of Spain, with crystal clear waters flanked by pine trees and rocks. You can also visit the Cap de Creus Natural Park, the Els Aiguamolls de l'Empordà Natural Park, and the Montgrí, Medes Islands and Baix Ter Natural Park. You can get there by bus, but travelling by car is best.

Girona (city): Girona is one of 4 Catalan regional capitals and a city with a stunning historic centre, which was actually chosen for the filming of the seventh season of Game of Thrones. Its Jewish neighbourhood is one of the best preserved in Spain. There is also the river and adjacent houses that makes it somewhat resemble Venice. It is easily reached by train.

"La Roca” Shopping Village: This shopping centre has become known as a major outlet for leading brands. It is located 35 kilometres from Barcelona and buses make the return journey several times a day. It is open all year round.
